This didn't work for me. If the point was (and I'm not even sure what the point was) to illustrate the redemptive power of theater, it truly missed the mark. Jumbled, disjointed, irritating, and not enlightening or even visually pleasing.

I don't need a conventional narrative, am fine with an impressionist piece, but found myself irritated by the film and the actors. I tried.

Ridiculous. How did this film win any awards? Can't imagine who was in the audience!

This is a sloppy, unimaginative film. Something that could have been made in a college class on filmmaking.

I liked it, especially the performance by the girl who plays Madeline. I thought it was an interesting look at the perspective of someone with a mental illness. I didn't care so much for other Decker films like Butter on the Latch....this film felt a lot more genuine and less pretentious.

I tried. I really did. But film just ain't my cup of tea. Like gazing at one's navel, which I don't find very interesting.

One might first ask, Frank, why you say "This is like one protracted BAD improvisation. It's pointless and artless."

Anonymous picture
Frank

Yes that is one option. Are you saying I was too harsh?

Sorry, my bad. My comment was intended for Tim.

I like the film overall. Not always comfortable to watch, but that's because it gets at what is going on inside these relations - of all sorts. I think nearly zero of the dialog is a reliable indicator of what the character spoke, but is ...Read more

This is like one protracted BAD improvisation. It's pointless and artless. Who the hell gave it four stars?

Oh no! It's not gone with the wind or Casablanca! You'd better run for the hills!

After all, you, Tim, are the supreme judger of all things pointful and pointless, all things artful and artless!

Please guide us to the pointful and artful movies, so we can know like you know! ...Read more

Grow up Frank. Why don't you just tell us why you liked the film ok?

Anonymous picture
Frank

What is all this about growing up? Who wants to be an adult in this sham society we have here?

I'm not the best critic, positive or negative. It seems to me that, although I do look deeply into the works that fire my soul, that I should be wary of articulating exactly what it is that ...Read more
